WHAT A SWORN TRANSLATION
A sworn translation is an official translation that has an oath, the seal and signature of the person who has translated it, who will be a translator appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and who, by means of his or her signature and seal, certifies and takes responsibility for the accuracy and fidelity of the translation with regard to its original document, so that, in addition to being valid, it becomes understandable for the receiving body.
A sworn translation is a printed document, on paper. However, since 2020, sworn translations in digital format are also accepted.
Whether it is a direct (into Spanish) or a back (from Spanish) translation, there are a series of formalities and requirements that both the original document and the translation must comply with, and it is important to know them. In this way, we ensure that the final document is valid and officially recognized.
You will need a sworn translation for any official procedure in which you provide documentation written in a language that the receiving body does not accept.
In the case of sworn interpreting, it would be an oral translation made in official situations. Through sworn interpretation, those who are translated find their rights guaranteed, so that they understand and are understood, and everything said can be accurately recorded. Thanks to sworn interpretation, all people, regardless of the language in which they speak, can access justice, conduct legal procedures, and participate in official acts without language barriers. Sworn interpreting occurs in trials, courts, notaries and civil registries or the public administration, for example.
